Garden buildings can be used for whole host of activities. You might need a separate home office away from the noise and distractions of the family home or a little sanctuary to pursue your hobbies like music or art.

There’s a solution for any garden and any budget. If you’re looking to keep costs down, you could opt for a simple pre-fab design you could assemble and construct yourself – DIY skills allowing of course. If you go for something more ambitious it will have to be put together by skilled professionals. You don’t really want to be messing around with glass doors or decking for example.

Beware where you position your garden room. If you have trees that are it is not a hurdle but it requires well consideration. Plus remember you’re going to need easy access for delivery and then on going maintenance. If you’re going to store expensive work or hobby equipment in your garden building, make sure it’s secure. Choose sturdy locks and toughened glass. Put blinds on the windows so thieves can’t see what’s kept inside. You could even install an alarm and security lighting too.

With the right insulation and double glazing you can use your building all year round. Hook up cabling to your house to run the lights and heating. Then all you need to do is put the finishing touches to ensure it’s fit for whatever purpose you intend to use it. Home office suppliers can help kit you out with furniture. Remember to think of the neighbours. If your planning on putting a music room at the bottom of the garden, make sure it’s sound proofed first.
