Updating your net curtains? Trying a new design? In the 21st century, it is crucial that we try and reuse and recycle rather than simply throwing away. So how can you resuse or recycle your net curtains?

If your net curtains are still in good condition, why not pass them on? You could take them to your local charity shop or try a website like gumtree or freecycle. If they are not in good enough condition to be reused by somebody, then there you have a number of options for recycling them.

.If your net curtains have a beautiful design, you can cut out the patterns and use these to decorate picture frames, table cloths – anything you can think of. If your designs resemble snowflakes, you could cut out the designs and make window decorations to create a festive look.

.You can sew your net curtains to produce bags to use when shopping. You can quickly turn a hem over on the top and put in a drawstring of cord or ribbon.

.Use some of the net curtain to create a net to clear out your pond.

.Make bird netting to protect newly sewn seeds.

.Transform your net curtains into fancy dress – you could make fairy wings, tutus, veils…

.Net curtains can be transformed into mosquito nets to protect you in the summer months.

.Create food covers to stop flies getting on your food at BBQs.

.Use your old net curtains as frost protection for plants.

.Make laundry bags for washing delicate items in the washing machine.

.Craft strainers to use in cooking. Some patterns may require several layers in order to make effective strainers.
