How To Collect Avios Points With Tesco

Avios was launched in 2011 as an essentially rebranded Air Miles. It is primarily a travel reward programme with almost worldwide coverage and the scheme has around five and a half million users. Essentially rewards are collected by purchasing good and services from the numerous Avios partners, many of which are leading international brands.

In order to benefit from Avios and to start collecting Avios points which can be exchanged for free flights and many other rewards such as hotel nights, theatre tickets, experiences, wines and travel on Eurostar, it is necessary to open a free Avios account; once you have done so you can you can collect Avios points when you shop in selected stores, when you shop online, and as you travel.

An excellent way to collect Avios points is from Tesco. The scheme used to be called Tesco Airmiles , but that was changed following the rebranding of Air Miles. To benefit from the present scheme it is necessary to hold a Tesco Clubcard. If you are not a Clubcard holder already, then you can register for one online. Once you have done so, then every time you make a purchase from a Tesco store, petrol station, or from the Tesco website, you will be awarded Clubcard points. If you also have a Tesco credit card, you will collect Clubcard points each time that you use it.

Once 150 points have been accumulated, they will be converted to a Clubcard voucher with a face value of £1.50. This can be redeemed in store or online for that value to pay part of your shopping bill, but it is worth much more than that if it is used in the Clubcard rewards scheme, and in particular if used to purchase Avios points.

To convert your Clubcard Points into Avios Points you will need to go to the Clubcard Avios webpage. When you are there you just need to enter the voucher value that you wish to exchange. The minimum value is £2.50, and for each £2.50 you exchange you will receive 600 Avios points.

Once you have done this once, you can elect to have all your Tesco Clubcard points converted to Avios points automatically.

So how much are 600 Avios points worth? Well, the more points you collect the more they are worth. For instance you can exchange 14,000 of your Avios points for a case of quality wines. This equates to just over £23 of Clubcard points. If you are interested in taking a trip to Paris, Brussels or Little then you can purchase a return Eurostar ticket for just 9,000 Avios points, which equates to just £15 worth of Clubcard points. Save them all up and soon you will have enough for a flight to New York, Orlando, or even further.
