    What you need to impress Google

    The recent Google update has been a real boon for the SEO industry in many ways. The huge effect the update had on US sites prompted Google to speak out, allowing its gurus to advise site owners on how to cope. This has been the first time in memory that Google has been so forthcoming with information, and it’s a good idea for site owners to take advantage while they can.

    The main messages Google seems to be sending involve content. Any search engine optimization company can tell you that content is important in website optimization, but Google is defining the issues even more sharply. We now know content needs to:

    (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});

    *Be original in every way. SEO experts have long known the value of original content, but it now seems that original ideas are just as important. Don’t regurgitate research and information from your competitors if you want your rankings to soar.

    *Be deep. Google has indicated that truly authoritative content needs to engage in a topic deeply. You can talk to our experts at SEO Consult about this.

    *Add value. Google has had an emphasis on value over the last few years, but it now seems that the search engine is really cracking down on fluffy content. Simply posting what you feel like isn’t going to cut it any more for search engine optimization purposes.

    *Attracts user engagement. Apparently, Google is now looking for content being talked about in social media, attracting Facebook ‘like’ clicks and other signs of user approval.

    *Isn’t alone. One of the more surprising things that the recent update has revealed is how much a site’s pages affect each other. A few pages of high-quality content aren’t enough to get Google’s attention these days. To be considered valuable, your site needs to have good content across the board.
