    How Dangerous is Driving?

There are many things that can make driving dangerous. From our own fallibility as drivers through to the potential for something to go wrong with our cars, every time we get behind the wheel it is worth remembering that a car can be a deadly weapon: both those within the car and those outside the car can be seriously injured or even fatally wounded simply due to lapses of concentration or even simply due to an inherent fault in the car itself.

The figures vary from place to place and from year to year, and everything from road conditions to the levels of driver awareness about potential dangers will all inform how safe both drivers and other road users/pedestrians are. In the UK alone nearly 50,000 people die or are seriously injured every single year due to road accidents making driving one of the least safe ways to travel.

The causes vary. Tiredness alone is believed to cause more than 20% of all traffic accidents in the UK. Tiredness and fatigue are rarely good excuses as to why you can’t drive into work, but the more tired you are the less likely you are to be able to give your full attention to the road and what is going on around you.

So how do you avoid problems such as tiredness when you have things to do?

Well, there are many ways. If you need to get to work, public transport or even cycling wherever possible will help keep you far safer. If you have a delivery to make, consider using a courier. Many people avoid using courier services as they believe they will be extremely expensive, and yet in some instances using a courier may actually be cheaper than delivering items yourself so long as you know where to look.

Driving is always going to involve a certain amount of risk, whether that is due to your own ability and awareness or that of others. From public transport to using courier services, there are many ways to avoid dangers if you are not 100% ready to get behind the wheel.
